Since the dawn of time (or shortly thereafter) the descendants of Cain have worshipped the moon.

Around 3000 B.C. Uruk was the largest settlement in southern Mesopotamia (Iraq/Babylon). It was most likely the largest settlement in the world at that time, with around 80,000. people. It is believed to be the Biblical town of Erech (Gen 10:10) the second city founded by Nimrod in Shinar. The people of Uruk worshipped the Moon God Nanna (also known as Sin, as in Mount Sinai), the Moon Goddess Ningal, and her daughter Innana (the New Moon Goddess) also referred to as the Queen of Heaven or the Queen of the South. Throughout other places in the near east she was called, Ishtar,  Astarte, Asherah, and Dumuzi (also Tammuz)

A unique and one of kind "picture" into the ancient world, which illustrates their practices and rituals is shown on the 5000 year old vase of Uruk (below).

Keep in mind, the establishment of Uruk and its religion preceded the Hebrew Exodus from Egypt by approximately 1700 years.

Everyone knows how to identify a full moon.

A new moon is the exact opposite.
It shows no light.

It's not to be mistaken for the waxing crescent.......

or the waning crescent......

The New Moon is black.
This picture shows a slightly gray border
around the circumference to distinguish it
from the black background.

When the Hebrews came out of Babylon and began to reacquaint themselves with the Scriptures, they came upon this verse;

Ye shall not round the corners of your heads, neither shalt thou mar the corners of thy beard. Lev 19:27 (KJV)

Before the Babylonian captivity, when the Hebrews first came out of Egypt, a certain number of them had a bad habit of shaving the corners of their beards into curves (or semi circles) to honor the Moon.

"You will not round the corners of your heads" refers to the other practice they adopted in Egypt of shaving their hair into the shape of a circle or disk, to honor the moon.

By the time they came out of Babylon, some of the Moon worshippers were reluctant to give up the practice of shaving their heads and clipping the corners of their beards.

So what's a Moon worshipper to do Rabbi?

Let us honor G-d, by covering our heads with one of these.

After all, we're not violating the commandment are we? It's not like we're shaving the hair on our heads into the shape of a New Moon.

If you look at how a true orthodox yarmulke is made, there are strict standards in place to make sure that the thread used to stitch the hem around the outer edges of the circumference is the same shade of black as the fabric used to make the yarmulke. In other words, there will be no border colors or differentiation between the fabric and thread, to make the cap look like anything other than a perfect New Moon. Just like the one shown above. [Innana would be pleased.]

You may be thinking at this point, " I'm glad I wear a Kippah and not one of those accursed yarmulkes!"

Think again!

Shown below is the Vase of Uruk.

Notice on the head of the Priest-King is a Kippah.
His beard has been trimmed around the edges.
The priest  (in front of the High Priest) is offering "first fruits" (sound familiar?)
First fruits included offerings of fruits, vegetables, and grain. One of the Priests is carrying the water libation in a vase.
Behind Innana (and the two bundles of reeds) is the sacrificial ram. Parading up the tiers are the other animal sacrifices (ewes and lambs)

This all bears a striking similarity to the sacrifices listed in the Book of Leviticus, and the Book of Numbers.

Who was the first person ever to bring an offering to Yahuah?

And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto Yahuah. Gen 4:3 (KJV)

That was the start of it.

But unto Cain and to his offering he (Yahuah) had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell. Gen 4:5 (KJV)

Yahuah rejected not only Cain's offering, but Cain himself.
Cain decided, rather than to walk with Yahuah in his Torah (which is pure worship) that he would create his own way to be accepted. Thus, religion was born.

Love Yahuah with all your heart and your neighbor as yourself."

Those who have this torah written on their hearts, need no other law.

Why did Yahuahshua tell Moses (Moshe) and Joshua (Yawhushua) to remove their sandals when they stood in His presence? Because Yahuahshua's bare feet were upon the ground where they stood, so it was Holy ground. Their sandals were made from leather, and Yahuahshua did not want the hide of a dead animal to be between He, Moshe, (and later) Yawhushua.
Does this sound like a person who would later expect the slaughter of millions of animals; as a form of worship?

Yet, the descendants of Cain continue to preach and teach about  the offerings of sacrifices, just as their father taught them.

Thus says Yawhuah Tsaw baw'ot, the Mighty One (Ul) of YawshawrUl: "Add your burnt offerings to your sacrifices and eat (the) meat.
"For I did not speak to your fathers, or command them in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, concerning burnt offerings or sacrifices.

[This was not an ordinance instituted by Yahuah. Could it be any more plain to see?]

"But this is what I commanded them, saying, 'Obey My voice, and I will be your Mighty One, and you shall be My people. And walk in all the ways that I have commanded you, that it may be well with you.'

[ The term, walk "in all the ways" ( I bade you) is translated from the Hebrew words "kol" and "dereck," and should have been translated in the singular as, walk "in the way" (I bade you). "The Way" is a recurrent theme throughout scripture and means the same as "the torah."

"Yet they did not obey or incline their ear, but followed the counsels and the dictates of their evil hearts, and went backward and not forward. Jer 7:21-24 (NKJ)

It may appear that I've gone off slightly on a tangent, but New Moon worship, and the marking of the 30 day calendar cycle is connected to all of the redundant animal/nature offerings and sacrifices of the ancient pagan and Hebraic world.

If you haven't read my article on the 360 Day Calendar, give it a try, see what you think. I asked myself the question, why would Yahuah, the Creator of all things; a person who is obviously a master mathematician well acquainted with both Classical and Quantum Physics. expect the Hebrews to follow a 30 day lunar month and a 360 day solar year when neither one existed at the time of the Exodus? I suspect that the 360 day calendar (and 30 day lunar cycle) existed before the flood, and the worship associated with it was passed down by one of Noah's sons or a daughter in law.

I personally will not wear a yarmulke or a Kippah because of the obvious link they both have with the worship of Nanna, Ningal, and Inanna. Not to mention that the only reference I could find regarding the wearing of a yarmulke appeared in the Babylonian Talmud.

"If there is found among you, within any of your gates which Yahuah your Ul gives you, a man or a woman who has been wicked in the sight of Yahuah your Ul, in transgressing His covenant, "who has gone and served other gods and worshiped them, either the sun or moon or any of the host of heaven, which I have not commanded, "and it is told you, and you hear of it, then you shall inquire diligently. And if it is indeed true and certain that such an abomination has been committed in Israel, "then you shall bring out to your gates that man or woman who has committed that wicked thing, and shall stone to death that man or woman with stones. Deut 17:2-5 (NKJ)
